Fashion is a resource intensive industry, affecting our air, our land, and our waterways. Every aspect of a garment’s lifecycle draws on our earth’s resources, from production, to care to disposal.
A few things to consider:
Nearly three-fifths of all clothing ends up in incinerators or landfills within a year of being produced.
More than 8 percent of global greenhouse-gas emissions are produced by the apparel and footwear industries.
And, around 20 to 25 percent of globally produced chemical compounds are utilized in the textile-finishing industry.
It is important to remember that our decisions regarding consumption have a direct effect on the earth. Buy less, buy better.
